RealWorldEconomics.com.au is an online community for academic economists and post graduate students at QUT (Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia) and has been developed by Manuela Torgler, head of getVIRTUAL. The idea of a highly dynamic, extendable and flexible database driven website and different user levels could be realized one of the most powerful Open Source Content Management Systems. The strength of RealWorldEconomics lies in its simple browser-based interface that allows its users to easily add new content over the front-end. The content is structured and designed in a way that provides the members with many features, the ability to enlarge the community website without substantial transaction costs and the capacity to build an innovative and interactive intellectual environment.
